We’re the Paint and Compositing Department at Blue Sky Studios, a specialized team of individuals well-versed in compositing techniques that help add both subtle nuances and extreme effects to a shot. These details can accent an emotional cue within a story, or generate an over-the-top moment that can shake you out of your seat.

On the long train of CG film production; we are the last stop before the images head off to film output or digital projection. Using interactive tools and working solely at film resolutions, final polish is painstakingly applied to achieve both quality control and visual enhancement. No blemish slips past our keen eyes that could hinder the audience's movie-going experience. To make sure our film is beautiful and consistent we will create a 2D effect that mixes with our 3D Animation to result in a stunning image. These effects can be as small as adding a glint to a characters' eyes, or as vast as large painted vistas that fill the viewer with a sense of awe. Some notable achievements in the past, such as visualizing a character's memories through cave paintings, creating natural phenomena like rain, lightning, and breath, helping roaches sing, fish talk, and aliens swim, merely scratch the surface in illustrating our full visual arsenal.

We go the extra mile whenever there is an opportunity to push the work further. To help integrate a character into a scene, bring continuity and excitement to a sequence, or create an exclamation point to a director's vision, we will ship no shot before it's time.
